The Derby Magic start gate is of the 'Normally Open' design. A stainless steel torsion spring provides the
force to open the gate. The side lever is rotated clockwise to load the spring until the side lever locks into the
start lever. The cars then can be placed on the start gate.
To start the race, the start lever is rotated clockwise, the side lever is released, and the torsion spring forces
