The Derby Magic start gate is of the 'Normally Open' design. A steel torsion spring provides the force to
open the gate. The side lever is rotated clockwise to load the spring until the side lever locks into the start
lever. The cars then can be placed on the start gate.
The standard start gate is manually operated. To start the race, the start lever is rotated clockwise, the side
lever is released, and the torsion spring forces the start gate to open, starting your race.
The start of the race timing is consistent from race to race. The torsion spring provides a consistent torrue
that will last for many years.
