To further automate your Pinewood Derby, there is also an optional solenoid operated start gate. An electric
solenoid is activated through by the Derby Magic Race Manager software. A message is sent to the
Electronic Timer, and the solenoid is actived to start your race.
The solenoid is used to operate the start gate, but the timing is still started by the micro switch on the start
gate. This method provides consistent timing results.
The solenoid start gate includes a larger power supply to power the timer and solenoid. The solenoid start
gate option requires the use of the Derby Magic Race Manager and electronic timer.
